Donation of historic dental equipment to the British Dental Association’s Museum in London

The Practice has recently donated a piece of historic dental equipment to the British Dental Association’s Museum in London. The piece was found recently in a draw by Mr Wilson Barclay one of the previous owners of the Practice. There was some doubt as to the nature of the equipment but after some investigation by the curator of the British Dental Association’s Museum, it has been dated to c1912 and is a mallet used for placing fillings made out of gold leaf which were cold welded into the cavity prepared in the tooth. The piece will be on public display in the Museum at the headquarters of the British Dental Association at 64 Wimpole Street, London.
