We are pleased to announce that the practice will be reopening on Monday 29th June.

It has been a difficult time for us all and we are very glad that we are finally able to open our doors again.

We thought we should inform you of some changes and some guidelines that must be followed now we are reopening. Dental practices are following strict guidelines and are moving through a phased return to routine dental care. Presently this means we can only offer face to face appointments for emergency care. We are unable to offer routine appointments for exams, hygienist appointments and routine treatment. Any procedures which produce aerosols are not permitted in the phase we are currently in. We will keep you updated as and when we can offer more services.

Safety is of the utmost priority and we have made many changes in the practice to protect patients and staff. We have implemented new measures and guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety and would appreciate your cooperation in assisting us in these new changes.

We will be contacting patients who have had dental problems during the lockdown period and have asked for appointments. As stated before, we will be limited in the treatment we can offer now, so we will be discussing your needs over the telephone or video consultation before an appointment is made.

For those patients who have email or texts as their priority means of contact, you will be sent an electronic version of your medical history and consent form to be checked and confirmed before your appointment. For those who do not, it will be gone through verbally on the day of your appointment. We will also be telephoning the day before your appointment to go through a COVID screening questionnaire.

On the day of your appointment, please try to arrive as near to your appointment time as possible. The waiting room will not be in use, please call when you get here and wait in your car. If you have completed all your medical history checks etc. electronically there will also be an online check-in you can use to let us know you are here. If you are arriving by public transport or on foot, there will be a single chair available in the vestibule at the front door for you to come in and wait. The inside door of the practice will remain locked and we ask that you do not attend unless you have an arranged appointment.

Please be aware the practice toilet facilities will not be in use except in emergencies. If it is necessary for you to use the toilet, please advise reception so that environmental cleaning can be carried out afterwards.

We would ask that you visit the practice alone unless accompanying a child or a dependant patient. Please also wear a face covering when attending. Please limit the belongings you bring into the practice as these will not be permitted in the surgery. Belongings will be left in reception with the receptionist. There will only be one patient in the practice at the time and the door will be locked so your belongings will be secure.

When the dentist is ready for you, the receptionist will come to collect you, or you will be telephoned to come in from your car. Your temperature will be taken with a contactless thermometer and you will be asked to sanitise your hands. We will also go through the COVID screening questions with you again. If your temperature exceeds 37.8C, we may not be able to treat you and you will be advised to return home and self-isolate.

You will be escorted to the surgery to avoid the touching of door handles and surfaces. When your treatment is complete you will be escorted back to the reception. Social distancing measures are in place at reception so please be aware of the signs. We will not be accepting cash or cheques at this time, if payment cannot be made by contactless means, we will ask for payment over the phone. Any further appointments can be made before you leave the practice.

We appreciate your patience during this difficult time for us all and look forward to getting back to looking after your dental care routinely very soon! If you have any questions, please call the practice on 01224 641773 or email [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
